Here are a series of photographs i took in Glasgow. The inspiration for these images came from my interest in sociology. I was interested in issues of inner city decay and have tried to address this within my photos. I have decided to display the photos in a series like this to give an overall impression of the area. Having two photographs of the same area next to each other creates a stronger impact, the viewer is experiencing the whole area at once and can get a strong feeling of inner city decay.
Here i have used only slight alterations to the saturation and contract. The colourful graffiti works well against the dull, dark background.
The light on both the image above and below is very warm making the scene seem alot prettier.
Here i have used rain on the lens to blur and soften certain parts of the image. This contrasts well with the harshness of the graffiti and rubbish. The flowers in this image create questions... did someone die here? This could shock the viewer and also implies there is a narrative behind the image.
